Pajamas with Surprises – Beloved and Timely Classic Musical Comes to Denver School of the Arts

Comedy, romance, and jealousy collide in surprising and hilarious ways as Denver School of the Arts presents the award winning musical The Pajama Game Sept 14-18. Recently revived on Broadway where it garnered yet another set of Tony awards, The Pajama Game sets the story of a fated romance against the backdrop of a union strike. Although timely in subject matter, its exceptional score, rollicking dances, and hilarious characters continue to make the musical an audience favorite.

Many will recognize songs like “Hey There” and “Hernando’s Hideaway” which did well on the Hit Parade back in the 1950’s. The original production of The Pajama Game was also Bob Fosse’s first Broadway assignment as a choreographer – and his “Steam Heat” went on to become a landmark dance in the history of musical theatre.

The Pajama Game will run in the Schomp Theater at Denver School of the Arts from September 14-17 at 7pm and September 17-18 at 2pm. Tickets are $14/18 for adults and $10/12 for children, students (including college with valid ID) and teachers/staff from any educational institution (with valid ID). If Grease is the word then Denver School of the Arts is the place from July 28-30 as it produces the popular musical Grease: School Edition and hosts a 1950’s Sock Hop. With its unforgettable music and beloved characters, the well known story of the Pink Ladies and the Burger Palace Boys comes to life starring Denver’s most talented teenagers.

Performances of Grease: School Edition take place on Thursday, July 28 at 3pm, Friday, July 29 at 7pm and Saturday, July 30 at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets for the show are $10 and only available for purchase at the door or by mail through July 22.
